Hello. I'm Meg Mateo Ilasco, the owner of Mateo Ilasco, a studio producing a line of stationery and home products and a freelance creative (writing, design, illustration, and styling!) I have written several books including Craft, Inc., Creative, Inc. and Crafting a Meaningful Home. In addition, I also produce Modern Economy, a multi-designer sample sale supporting independent designers and retailers.

My most recent project is a new print home and lifestyle magazine called Anthology, where I serve as Creative Director. The magazine comes out in October 2010.

My road to becoming a freelance creative was hardly straightforward. My resume includes several years at marketing research firm, six years as the owner/designer of a wedding invitation company, and an education in psychology and architecture. And although I am largely a self-taught graphic designer, my work has received awards from The Pasadena Museum of California Art and Print Magazine.

And yes, I do this all by myself with little sleep and, strangely, little caffeine.
